Learning how to breathe properly is really important. It’ll calm you down when you’re stressed, relax your body, and tighten your focus. Breathing is the first thing we do in this life. When done properly, breathing can really contribute positively to your overall health. But so many of us forget how to breathe. We become mouth-breathers and take really short, shallow breaths. When you breathe like that, you’re not getting the oxygen you need and you won’t be performing at your highest level.




Pranayama (breathing techniques)
Yoga is defined as a union between the soul and the body. As such, the breath is seen as the fundamental link between our physical and mental aspects. Yogic breathing exercises or pranayama teaches one how to re-energize the body and control the mind by regulating the flow of Prana (life force). We will practice Ujjayi Breathing (victorious breath), Kapalabhati (cleansing breath), and Analoma Viloma (alternate nostril breathing).


Pranayama is the art of effective breath control. Practicing proper techniques of breathing can help bring more oxygen to the blood and brain, eventually helping control prana or the vital life energy. Pranayama also goes hand in hand with various yoga asanas. The union of these two yogic principles is considered as the highest form of purification and self-discipline, covering both mind and body. Pranayama techniques also prepare us for a deeper experience of meditation.




Meditation is a practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth.

It is something which comes naturally to each person in their own time when they are ready.

Everyone is different, some are getting into it straight away for others it takes longer, there are no hard and fast rules but if you follow the right steps and are patient, you will get there in time. We will practice a short relaxation session of 8-10 minutes after each yoga session.
